Meeting Minutes for 9/10/2007

Attendance:

Dr. Wells-Fine Arts Director, Lindsay Demske-Lance teacher, LoriKaye Kristiansen-Mahone teacher, Jill Hanson, Heather Kamikawa, Sadie Woods, Debbie Upton, Sue Jensen, Barbara Bemis

 

President – Sue Jensen

Vice-President –  position still open

Treasurer – Debbie Upton

Secretary – Barbara Bemis

 

Changes over summer in music personnel:  Dr. Wells – new Fine Arts Director; replacing Dr. Yontz. Helen Breitenbach leaves Lance MS and moves to Tremper HS, replaced at Lance by Lindsay Demske.  Rebecca Kollatz leaves Bullen MS; replaced by Heather Kamikawa.

 

School Representatives:

Lance: Barbara Bemis

Lincoln: Jane Lee

Mahone: Debbie Upton

 

Need additional school representatives for othe schools. 

Representatives will receive synopsis of year (events calendar, directors, etc)

 

 

Treasurer’s Report / summer summary:

Income Sources: T-shirt sales-new and previous year’s design, cookbooks, bottled water.

 

Festival of Arts and Flowers: income down from previous year (+$641.00).  Location change not beneficial.  Better results when table placed nearer musicians separate from other booths.  Change in cost of t-shirts from $6.00/shirt to $7.50/shirt; sold for same price-$10, and may need to increase price.

 

School representatives will sell t-shirts, etc at school events – calendars provided for planning purposes.

 

Pool and Pizza Party:  8 pizzas from DeRango’s

 

Expenditures: Scholarships, pizza, ice-cream, license, MSO-$2500.00.

Mahone Representative states significant expenditures this year-skirts, cello repair; needs account balance.

 

Discussion on Boosters’ role:

Music camp scholarships, rallying people-volunteers and resources, political activism within community.

 

Booster’s Website: Sue Jensen’s son, Jim, created web site.

Must purchase domain $99.00. After 60 day waiting period.  New address will be able to be found with Search at:  kenoshaorchestraboosters.org

Request site to be linked to KUSD site.

 

Interested in adding to website with pictures of events, camp.  May be emailed to Sue Jensen. 

 

 

New Business:

Fruit Sale:  Debbie Upton - chairperson

Sue Jensen, Debbie Upton, Patty Mahoney, Deenan Dreger (Band Boosters), Tammy Skendzial (Choir Boosters) held meeting 9/10 to discuss. 

May need new location.  Old Bain School may not be available for reconstruction plans.  Tentative dates:  Fruit fundraiser begins October 20 – November 16.  Delivery Date: December 14.  Pick-up: December 15.  Will discuss more in Oct meeting. 

 

Afternoon Tea:  Scheduled for February 24, 2008, 1 – 4pm at Woman’s Club in Kenosha.  Sue was able to book Rachel Barton-Pine with Greg Berg as Master of Ceremonies.  Deposit of $100 sent with total same as last year of $300.  Need subcommittee to plan details.  Sue Jensen plans on pursuing underwriting for costs from local banks.  Suggested fee for Rachel $1000.00/accompaniest $500/supplies: $500.   Silent Auction needs donations.

 

Fund Raisers: 

Suggestion for Solo Ensembles that schools rotate for money-making opportunities selling food items.

 

Flower Sale received positive feedback.  Summer Garden provider did good job.

Possible Photograph sales for big events.
