Recap of Summer Orchestra:
Advanced Summer Orchestra played at Pennoyer Park Band Shell and the Festival of Arts and Flowers. Beginner, Cadet and Advanced groups played at the final concert at Reuter. Some pictures are posted on the website. Boosters sold t-shirts at all three events bringing in $605. Thanks to all who volunteered to help. We still have a sizeable inventory, but the colored shirts are sold out. Should we order more of those for the concerts coming up in Nov & Dec? Pizza Party 8 pizzas were ordered from DeRangos; Boosters contributed $1 per student to enter the pool.
Treasurer’s Report:
Balance in account: $1,462.51. May freeze funds (requests to Sue) until further notice. Not sufficient for subsidizing MSO field trip. Cookie-dough fundraiser may provide needed funds.
Discussed changing meeting night to accommodate greater input but decided against this, for now.

Rachel Barton Pine is agreeing to come back. Her fee this year is $1500/solo.
Are there any objections? Last year we solicited donations to cover her fee. Date is set for Sunday Feb 15, 2009. We need a new location for more room. Suggestions: Mahone, Radisson, Masonic Temple, Kemper Center….other suggestions? We need to secure a location soon so that donation request letters can go out. Compare costs of each site, availability.
Mahone was determined to be the site for Tea.
Need to determine custodial fee. (No building fee with this site.)
Collage concert setting: staggered children’s performances in cafeteria.
Main concert ( Rachel) in auditorium
Teachers lounge for food set-up
Discussed teachers also playing for Tea!
Must send out donation letters now and in Jan.
Film Rachel and large groups?

Website:
Teachers could use the website as a place to communicate what each orchestra is doing throughout the school year. Lori Kaye agreed to send out template for such information to directors.
This could also go in the “Year Book” that Sue started working on with Blurb book-making software. The goal would be to cover the concerts, trips, retreats, etc, from each school. Volunteers would be needed to take pictures throughout the year. Send any pictures to Sue or bring to meeting.
A handout was provided: “Duties for school representatives: and a schedule of events also found on the website: www.kenoshaorchestraboosters.org
Next meeting: October 13, 2008.
