Meeting Minutes for May 12, 2008

Treasurer’s Report:  Debbie Upton information not present at meeting time
 
Fund raising for 2008-9 School Year
Consultant Tim Knuth presented the Entertainment Book and Sally Foster products, including cookie dough.
  Received well.  Agreed upon was the possibility of cookie dough sales early in the school year, with the Entertainment Books as incentive.  Directors will further look into  for dates as best potential for success.
 
Decision to discontinue the Orchestra Boosters support for the fruit sale. The money raised have dwindled from $20,000 to $1,700 in the past years.  It will be continued by the choir and band. 
 
Afternoon Tea for 2008-9
Discussion about the group Barrage was discussed.  Dr. Wells passed information on to Sue.  Through experience with past performances, it was found to not be as conducive to the performance of the students.  Other possibilities were discussed, such as alumni performing, and the added benefit of bringing in community support.  Need committee to discuss this over summer.  E-mail will be sent later asking for participation in planning the tea. 
 
Summer Orchestra:  Begins June 17th
Final Concert date:  July 23rd
Need volunteers to sell merchandise.
 
Volunteers for beginners' ice cream party needed:  Barbara and Amelia Bemis...
 
Volunteers for pizza and pool party needed.
 
Summer orchestra not planned for the Band Shell this year. 
Festival of Arts and Flowers:  July 20th
Need volunteers
 
Propose field trip to Ravinia for summer orchestra.  Schedule of Ravinia provided.  Directors found the hazards to be too great with students, however a family outing would be considered. 
 
T-shirts
Looking for competitive pricing between companies:  Super Sports, Laser Mark, Sherry’s Custom T’s
New design:  Heather Kamikawa
 
Propose Orchestra Year Book for 2008-9
Sue brought sample of book from Afternoon Tea using Blurb software.  Suggestion of including all events of the year to be included.  Price may run too high $50 estimate.  May consider other companies, including Josten, KeyLite, … for lower costs.

It will be updated by the end of the month with the new summer class and Fine Arts schedules for the coming year, and pictures from the tea and Orchestra Fest.  If anyone has pictures to contribute, please e-mail them to Sue.
