Treasurer's report: $8,575.92.

Dr. Well's report: Large group Festival at Tremper on Friday April 24th, 2009, starting at3:30.  The last group will start at 6:30.  Free and open to the public in the school auditorium.

School Spring concerts will be coming up in May at the individual schools.

The next Orchestra Booster meeting is at Mahone Middle School on May 11th, 2009.  Students will perform at 6:40.

Orchestra Fest went well, with all of the rest of last years t-shirts selling.  Flowers sold out in the first half hour.  66 bunches of flowers were bought.  Next year we should order 100 bunches.  We sold 300 bottles of water, next year we should order 2 more cases.  We also will keep ushers at doors to keep people entering during the pieces, as this was distracting during the concert.  People should not be walking in while students are playing.  Also people in the handicap section had their views blocked by people standing in the doorways.  1000 stadiums seats with the fine arts logo were purchased before Orchestra Fest.  95 were sold at the concert at $5.00 a piece.  The idea of selling them at each schools spring concert for kneeling pads was brought up.  The Band Boosters will be letting us sell the cushions at the Beginners band concert on Tuesday April 28th.  The concert begins at 7:00 and we need a few people to sell them starting around 6:00.

New Business:

The Orchestra Tea for next year was brought up by Mary Herbert.  She was wondering if the directors had discussed who they might ask as guest artist for next year.  Dr. Wells said he would put it on the agenda for an upcoming meeting.

It was announced that scholarships were awarded to one sixth, seventh and eighth grader this year.  Next year we would like to be able to add a ninth, tenth and eleventh grader.

We also want to send the middle school students back to the Milwaukee Symphony.

Mary Herbert asked if one of the scholarships could be named for Anne Heide as she had done the underwriting for our guest artist the past 2 years.  Also one named for Bank of Kenosha as they donated money especially for a scholarship.

Fundraisers:

It was decided that there was not enough time to pick a design for new t-shirts and get them printed before the spring concerts. We will discuss doing a new one for the summer at the May meeting.

The cookie dough fundraiser was asked about.  10 flavors of cookie dough can be chosen from.  They sell for $12.00 a tub, or $14 dollars for already proportioned cookies.  We would get a 40% profit.  To get a 50% profit we would have to sell $21,000 dollars.  We only sold $8,000 last fall.  A parent talked about how all of the fundraisers happened at the same time and how hard it was do all the selling.  One parent suggested asking for a donation from people instead of doing the selling if they chose to.  This idea was liked by many of the people at the meeting.  The ideal of selling flowers like Tremper's drama club was brought up which led to the idea of Anton's flats being sold.  Janice Mowry said that earlier in the year this had been checked on and Anton's had said they would let us use them as a fundraiser.  It was never set up after that with Anton's.

Mary Herbert asked if anyone would like to take this on.  After a short discussion Mary said she would just stop at Anton's to check with them as it was better to do it in person.

It was decided that profits would be divided 50/50 with the boosters and each school keeping their 50% share of what their school sold.

Dr. Well's brought up that it might not be doable in such a short time with having to get the okay from the ESC.  He will check into it and get back to Mary Herbert.  Mary asked if someone would like to be the chairperson for organizing the different jobs that orchestra booster does.  Some of these are: Summer Strings Concert, the summer pool party, Orchestra Fest, solo and ensemble etc.  Anyone who is interested can contact their child's orchestra director and their name will be passed on to Mary Herbert

We need new officers for next year if anyone is interested.  Mary said she would stay on as President if needed.  Also the rest of the board would possibly stay if needed, except for the secretary Fay Lang.  It was brought up that a historian was needed.  The person for this post would take pictures at events and keep mementos'.  It could also include doing the website. This could be done by a couple of people.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:50.

Please join us at Mahone on May 11th, 2009.  Mahone students will start playing at 6:40.
