Presidents Report:

Mary Herbert brought up having parent volunteers speak at the KUSD board meetings. It was discussed that parents from the music programs were needed to attend KUSD board meetings to speak about the positive things that are happening as the results of music programs in our schools.  It was mentioned that this usually happens only when the talk of cuts come up for music.  Interested persons could contact Mary Herbert to talk about speaking.  Mary would like to coordinate speakers with the Band and Choir boosters also.

Mary Herbert nominated Angela Broker for Vice-President to fill out the term for this year and it was seconded and passed by those in attendance.

Last month's meeting minutes were approved with one change (date) to be made.

Dr. Wells Report:

We will be doing 1 or 2 scholarships for Summer Strings Camp this year.  Dr. Wells will discuss this with the orchestra teachers at their meeting.

Next Years tea was discussed.  Many ideas were brought up including: Would we want to look for someone new for the guest artist?  Would we like to do just the Silent Auction?

$2,205.00 was made on the event this year.  Would we want to do the auction and raffles in two different areas next year?  50/50 raffle?  Next year working the staging and timing of the performance areas differently.  We would start earlier on the underwriting and donation requests.

Orchestra Fest will be held in the Bradford field house on Saturday March 21st at 7:30 p.m.  30 volunteers will be needed for various jobs including door monitors, ushers, ticket takers etc.  The orchestra teachers will ask for parent volunteers from their schools and forward the names to Dr. Wells.  We discussed what we would like to sell at Orchestra Fest.  The idea of new t-shirts was brought up and it was decided that we needed more time to come up with the design and we would have them for the summer programs and for next year.  We also will be ordering less flowers this year.  Water will be sold as usual.  The ideal of selling bright green stadium seats with the fine arts logo was decided on and will be sold for $5.00 a piece.

Mary Herbert asked if we could have a fundraising committee chairperson for next year who could get different people to work in the various areas of the orchestra boosters.

Possible positions for next year will need to be decided for next year.  We will do this at the May meeting.
