Middle school directors and interested Booster members will meet on Wednesday  March 12, 2008 (3:30pm) at Lance Middle School room 12 to view the submitted tapes/read the essays and decide on the winners.  Any Boosters  that want to attend this are welcome.  The winners will be awarded at Orchestra Fest on March 15th.

The directors are going to ask past scholarship winners if they would like to submit testimonials and pictures for a promotional display to be used at the Tea.  Hopefully  those will be turned in a week before the Tea.

Solo and Ensemble:
Saturday, March 1, 2008
Volunteer are needed; last year we didn’t do a very good job of getting volunteers.
Dr Wells said that a total of 150 volunteers are needed.  Each Booster group will try to get 50.  The directors will ask Reps to help get volunteers.  Lori Kay was going to work on a volunteer sign-up sheet for all the events that are coming up.  She will forward when done.
Lori Kay also suggested that maybe starting next year the Booster groups, Band, Choir and Orchestra could take turns selling food in the cafeteria instead of Orchestra always having to do the judges’ lunch.  Dr Wells said the three booster groups should ideally meet and discuss that.

For the judges’ lunch, Dr Wells said that we can expect to feed 22 judges and 30 directors.
Sue and Belinda will work from 6:00am-10:30; Jill Hanson and Sue will work 10:30-3:30-ish.  Other volunteers are welcome to join us.

The menu was gone over and it was decided who was bringing what.  Hot beef will be ordered from Ruffalo’s on Sheridan Road. Breakfast is served at 7:00, lunch in served at 11:00.

Orchestra Fest:
Saturday,  March 15, 2008
Nominees for the two Booster awards:
Sue nominated Franco Tarsitano of Lemon Street for all his work with violin project for the Tea.  Lori Kay nominated Sue.

Sue will look into Key Lite Photography taking student pictures before Orch Fest again this year.

Roses will be ordered again, and carnations, for the Boosters to sell.  Summer’s Garden did a nice job last year.  Volunteers to help with the flowers in the morning:  Jill Hanson and Becky Warren.  More are needed (4-5 total).
We need Booster members to sell the flowers that evening (6:30-9:30).  So far Belinda volunteered.  We will need 6-8 people total.
Parent volunteers will be needed for other duties that night: 2 ticket sales, 8 ushers, 4 ticket collectors, 4 program distributors, 2 to assist with handicapped seating, 3 door monitors.

Afternoon Tea:
Rachel Barton will be at the event from 1-4.  Interview will be at 2:00; performance at 3:30.  Rachel will also sell her Cds; said she will donate part of the sales to us.  Sue ordered a bouquet to be given to Rachel and her pianist after their performance.

A parent for KTEC, Jeff Landers, will be sending a $200 donation from his employer.  So far we received $3,200 in donations for the Tea.

The schools are working on their gift baskets for the auction.

Barb Bemis is looking into Coke or Pepsi donating 10-15  cases of soda.

An interview about the violin project is on the web: www.exposekenosha.com.  Also, Anderson Art Center will be displaying the violins Feb 14-22.  Gallery hours are 1-4 Tues-Sun.  Bill Robbins of the Kenosha News is doing a story about the violins with a side-story about the Tea.  “Get Out” has been contacted.  500 fliers were given to the KSO to put in their programs for the Feb 9th concert.
Stephanie Germino (cake decorator) originally quoted $1.75 per serving to do a cake for the Tea, but has offered to give us a discount .  It was decided to use her services.  Sue will call her to discuss.

Jim Jensen and Craig Wippert have offered to make some of the food.  They will do it for nothing, we just have to pay for the ingredients.  They have an impressive list of items they are planning to make, and will be at the Tea to work in the kitchen.  We may have to purchase some of the items.  Some of the Booster members will also donate food (Dr Wells, Lindsay volunteered her mom, Carolyn, Jill, Lori Kay).  Any one else who wants to donate food  is welcome to!

The Woman’s Club will be contacted to see if we can get in this week some evening to go over the floor plan.  Tentatively, Wed Feb 13th at 5:15.

Volunteers are needed to set up the morning of the Tea (8-11), the Tea itself (1-4), and clean-up (4:15-5ish_

We also need someone to take pictures.  Bring your camera if you have one!
